Report on the Inauguration of the Expanded National Steering Committee (NSC) of the Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI) PDF Print E-mail

1.0    Introduction
On Wednesday 8th September 2010, the Hon. Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Honorable Kwabena Duffour with support from colleague Ministers from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Hon Collins Dauda, Environment, Science and Technology, Hon Sherry Ayittey and Deputy Minister for Energy, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah inaugurated the expanded National Steering Committee (NSC) of the Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI) in the Finance Minister’s office from 10am-12pm. This inauguration was in line with the content of a Cabinet approved GHEITI Revised Institutional Framework document.

The expansion of the Committee resulted in the increase of the membership of the existing Committee for mining from a membership of 11 to a membership of 22. 

This expansion brought on board new members from the oil/gas sector. They were made up of representatives from the Ministry of Energy (MoEn) -2, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC)-1, Ghana Manganese Company- 1, Civil Society Platform on Oil and Gas-2, Office of the President- 1, Ghana Revenue Authority- 1, Tullow Oil Ghana Limited-1, a representative from the Sekondi-Takoradi Municipal Assembly in the Western Region and a representative from the Jomoro District Assembly in the Western Region.
