Workshop On Extension Of Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI) To The Oil And Gas Sector
The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MoFEP) and the GHEITI National Steering Committee (NSC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy (MoEn), German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and other stakeholders are making timely efforts to extend the principles of EITI to the oil and gas sector. This is in line with Governments commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of the country’s oil revenues when production starts in 2011.

Consequently, a one day stakeholder consultation workshop was organised on the 27th November, 2009 at the Greenland Hotel, Agona Swedru to discuss and adopt strategies for extending GHEITI to the oil and gas sector. The workshop was also to finalise the draft framework developed for the extension of GHEITI principles to the emerging oil and gas sector.

The workshop participants were drawn from MoFEP, MoEN, GNPC, Tullow Oil Company, GTZ, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the Press.
